We are pleased to welcome Kensington Labour’s new executive committee, elected on the 22 February at our annual general meeting.

The role of the executive committee is to run the local party on behalf of Labour members. This includes organising meetings, setting up campaigns, supporting members, helping to elect new Labour councillors, and working with our parliamentary candidate, Joe Powell.

We were particularly pleased that so many members attended the AGM at St George’s Church. The room was packed out, with members squeezing into pews to listen to the candidate statements. There was a fantastic energy in the room, and we are grateful for everyone who turned up to listen to the inspiring speeches and cast their vote.

The new chair is Monica Press, who will be working with the vice chairs for fundraising, Sam Bactra and Flo Hutchings, and the vice chair for membership, Billy Beckett. The full list of officers elected to the committee can be found below.

The executive committee will be meeting once a month to discuss plans for the Kensington Constituency Labour Party (CLP), listen to updates from officers, and decide how to support local members.

The committee members’ initial priority will be to settle into their roles, get to grips with Labour’s systems, tools and databases, and to make sure that upcoming CLP and branch meetings are organised smoothly. The officers will be reporting their progress at bi-monthly all member meetings, which all local members are encouraged to attend, in order to find out what they have been up to, and ask them questions.

Local members are vital for an effective CLP, and the committee will be announcing lots of plans for how to get involved with canvassing, fundraising, campaigning and more.
