Leader’s Statement
“On Thursday 21st May, the Kensington and Chelsea Labour Group of Councillors held its Annual General Meeting and elected officers to lead the group for the coming year.
I am honoured to have been elected as Leader of the Labour Group, and I look forward to working with our newly elected officers to hold the Conservative administration to account and champion the interests of residents across the Royal Borough.
I want to place on record my sincere thanks to all outgoing officers for their dedication and service to the group. In particular, I wish to thank Kasim Ali, who led the group through a difficult period.
The newly elected officers are as follows:
- Leader: Monica Press
- Deputy Leader and Secretary: Peter Marshall
- Chief Whip: Billy Beckett
- Deputy Whip: Sina Lari
- Chair: Portia Thaxter
- Treasurer: Alex Porter
We are a united group, energised by the result of the May 2026 local election, which returned 13 Labour Councillors to the borough. We are ready to get to work for the people of Kensington and Chelsea.”
